It’s again the World’s Longest car in the world that is known as the American Dream. We had talked before about this car that was produced in 1986, but then in 2013, a video showed how this car ended up in a parking lot with destruction from inside and outside!
A few years later, the car was saved and taken from New York to Florida to have a complete restoration. It is now fully restored to its former glory. Let’s dive into the restoration process and how it all ended up.
American Dream Limousine Start
The American Dream first came into fame once Guinness World Records acknowledged it in 1986. Due to its distinctive design and look, the limo was frequently hired out for film appearances and featured in several movies.
While the car was popular during its time, it progressively lost the care that was previously given to its maintenance. It ended up in a parking lot.
As interest in The American Dream faded, the iconic vehicle remained unused for years. It rusted with time, and some of the components were no longer recoverable.
Restoration Process
Michael Manning, the owner of a technical teaching museum named Autoseum in New York, saw the car listed on eBay. He contacted the seller and took the car to restore it, but he didn’t receive enough funding needed for the process.
It ended up staying 8 years behind his building. He then listed it on eBay, and in 2019 Michael Dezer contacted him and took the car to Florida. Manning and Dezer split the car into two parts and loaded it onto trailers.
The restoration process costs around $250,000, from shipping to material and component costs and workers’ costs. It also took three years to complete the restoration process.
Finding all the needed parts for such an old vehicle was a tough process. The car needed a completely new drive train, dashboard, front seat, motor, and many more.
On 1 March 2022, the Super Limo American Dream was back on the road.
It’s Back!
After a long process that took around 10 years to find a place and funding for the restoration process, the American Dream Limousine is back.
Although it will not get the same attention it took in 1986 when it first came out, and of course, it couldn’t hit the road because it’s too long to drive.
It will be displayed at Dezerland Park Orlando’s Auto Museum in Orlando, Florida. Taking the needed care and maintenance for such a long American Dream Limousine!
